Sheila Garlock, M.A., CCC-SLP
Assistant Professor

  photo of garlockSheila Garlock has joined the faculty as a full-time assistant professor beginning fall, 2005. She teaches courses in sign language, fluency, voice, diagnostics, and principles of clinical management. She supervises a wide variety of cases in the clinic, including diagnostic evaluations.

Ms. Garlock has extensive and varied experience as a speech-language-pathologist in private practice and in a variety of clinical settings including many public schools and special agencies. She has been supervising student clinicians at Truman for many years. She received her Master's Degree from Truman (formerly, Northeast Missouri State University).

Her main area of interest in therapy is preschool-aged children who have developmental disabilities. Recently, Ms. Garlock has been exploring the use of local telehealth facilities to provide remote speech-language therapy services. She has an ongoing research project related to CMDS student attitudes toward telehealth.


Before assuming her full-time responsibilities,  Ms. Garlock was also providing SLP services in the schools near Green City, MO.

When not working, Ms. Garlock spends as much time as possible with her family, including her husband and 3 daughters. Ms. Garlock also enjoys coaching basketball, snow skiing and reading.
