Friends, faculty, and alumni of Truman were thrilled with the announcement that the Missouri Speech-Language-Hearing Association Awards Committee named Kirksville SLP Carolyn McClanahan as Missouri's Outstanding Clinician for 2005.
John Applegate, Carolyn McClanahan, Amy Wilson
Carolyn has been an institution in northeast Missouri, providing clinical leadership and a role model for young professionals for many years. She has served as a mentor and supervisor for dozens of Truman students and local professionals completing ASHA Clinical Fellowship requirements. She obtained her master's degree at Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman).
Carolyn was instrumental in the establishment of local dysphagia diagnosis and treatment capabilities and became one of the first clinicians nation-wide to provide aural rehabilitation to adult cochlear implant recipients. She is a clinician's clinician, and one of the people in the trenches who really make a difference in people's lives. Congratulations, Carolyn! We are proud to call you a graduate of this program, and even more proud to call you a friend.
