Truman Wins Quest for the Cup!

Carrie Mills, Lauren Caffey, Alyson Hendry, Amy Kreimer, Molly Wenberg

In a nail-biting over time tie-breaker, Truman's Quest for the Cup team won the 2008 competition among teams from 8 different university  master's programs in Missouri. This review for the national exam in communication disorders (PRAXIS) caused audience members to cheer their teams and puzzle over the correct answers themselves. Congratulations ladies!

Sheila Garlock presents Telehealth Attitudes Poster

At this year's MSHA convention, assistant professor Sheila Garlock presented the preliminary results of an ongoing project in which CMDS students' attitudes toward telehealth are examined. The Truman State University Speech and Hearing Clinic is now part of the Northeast Missouri Telehealth Network. Through the clinic, patients in rural communities can receive individual speech-language therapy services without making the trip into Kirksville. For more information about the project, contact Sheila Garlock or Paula Cochran.

Truman Well-Represented on the Program

Truman was well-represented at this year's convention, as usual. Dr. Gooch again served the Student Presentations strand and MC'd the Quest for the Cup, Ms. Passe served as past-President of the association, Dr. Cochran presented 2 invited seminars, and thanks to the generosity of Truman Alumni, 10 student presenters from Truman were partially financially supported so that they could attend and present their research. Thanks alumni for your ongoing contributions to the CMDS Development Fund (Truman Foundation).
